Attack Points
Every monster card in YuGiOh has several characteristics. I'd use the word attributes, but that's the official name of one of them. These characteristics are: Name, Attribute, Level, Ability, Attack Points, Defense Points, Monster Type, Class.
For most players, the most relevant characteristics are: ability, monster type, class, level, attack points. Oh, before anyone gets confused, what I mean by monster type are: normal, effect, ritual, fusion, and synchro. Class covers things like spellcaster, warrior, beast-warrior, winged-beast, etc. Today we will be discussing mostly attack points and defense points.

Hey! I didn't see you there! Let me wipe some of the dirt off my gloves and take off my hat, because boy is it hot out there today. Sorry I didn't answer the door, I was watering my characters: Sally was chasing Johnny again, and Maria wanted to find a Mary Sue demon she could summon. Luckily, I use Mary Sues for composting. Could you hand me that bowl of Keebler Elves? Thanks. I find that Mary Sues, Keebler Elves especially, are a bit too sweet for actual consumption, but provide the rich nutrients in which lush characters grow.

A Few of YuGiOh's Problems
YuGiOh is one of the largest, and most successful, trading card games on the face of the planet. Literally skyrocketing to popularity on its titular television show, it has developed the devoted fanbase and marketing clout to challenge the world's most revered trading card game: Magic the Gathering.
However, little pieces of cardboard and popularity are where these two games stop being similar. In terms of design strategies, the two games are drastically different. While Magic the Gathering doesn't cater to any pre-existing requirements beyond what is expected of the card game itself, YuGiOh does. What do I mean

On Creating Characters
There is a distinct problem that writers, poets, directors, and storytellers of any sort are faced with. This problem is the creation of an engaging and original character. A failure to do so results in a boring character; in fact, it may be so bad that this character may lose the interest of the audience faster than Naruto can say "Believe It!" (Yes, I think he's very boring). Mudslinging at subpopular culture aside, the problem of an original character is a major issue.
Before I get started completely, I'd just like to point out that the problem of creating said original character is completely different from naming said character. Namin

On 'Cynicism' and Human Nature
People often confuse my dark view of human nature for cynicism.
I'll admit that some of it may be, and quite probably is.
I'll also admit that people are not nearly as nice as they could be.
Nor is there any reason that they should be.
Evolutionarily speaking, any social animals usually generate a pecking order; the higher up in this pecking order any single animal is the more likely it is that animal will find a suitable mate (or more than one), be able to provide for their family, so on and so forth...you get the gist.
There is no reason that humans do not follow this basic tenet of animal instinct.
The reason is simple.

The Common Pitfalls of Anime
It is undeniable that there is a LOT of anime out there, and that its a very lucrative sub-branch of the cartoon industry. It may even be more lucrative than anything to come out of Hollywood in recent years (excluding television series for toddlers, such as the Backyardigans). It is also undeniable that anime is quite possibly one of the most polarizing forms of animation to work in, with many people in the Western world refusing to even give a chance to any anime series on the premise that its all garbage anyways. The status of the anime enthusiast is often assumed to be (and therefore relegated as by the rule of fi
When an artist creates something, what does he or she do? What constitutes the creative process? Normally people think that the process generates something completely new, as if making something. However when an artist starts there are an infinite number of possible final products that he or she can produce. For a writer a novel or a short story might be written, but that tale would have an infinite number of possible outcomes until it was finished. Then there is only one outcome: the outcome that the author produced.
So for me, I view art (and my writing) as more of a way to discovery something, some story that I particularly enjoy out of t

Timothy Rendall answered his cell phone. It was his parents. Excusing himself from his research group, he quickly made his way into a lonely corner of the library. A few agitated words were passed before he ended with a quick, I love you, and hung up. Returning, he apologized and sat back down to continue work. On his left was Alyssa Lenhart, a blonde theoretical physics graduate student and graduated magna cum laude during her year, and in front of him was one of the undergraduates who had agreed to work with him for his experiment: Hogwarts alumna Jasmine Potter, Hermione Weasleys grandniece, a

He sat in his shack staring at the next bit of parchment on the wooden table in front of him. The dust hung heavier in the air than before, and moonlight filtered in through the window, gently illuminating the dust so that it looked almost like snow gently drifting onto the ground. His quill sat in the ink pot, full to the brim, and many copies of various history books sat open in front of him with markings all over the place. On the wall was tacked an old map of the London subway system with various large, red xs marked on them.
He rubbed his temples, feeling the tension in his head lessen a

Minamoto paced his office the news blared from three separate radios in his office, each tuned to a different station. He listened to the blaring fugue of noise, discerning key phrases and cutting through the waffle to the important points: a note was left at the scene of the crime, the attack had seemed to have no purpose besides what was listed, the act was labeled as terrorism, the only victims were non-wizards, the wizard involved wore red robes and a hawk mask, and the wizard had refrained from casting the Dark Mark or tying himself in any way to the deceased Lord Voldemort beyond what was a seemingly r

On Writing Mary Sues
A Mary Sue (Stu, for males out there) is the name for the character archetype which consists of an authors self-insertion, a character with altogether too many unrealistically grouped powers and abilities, both, or some other strange abilities and or quirks that make the suspension of disbelief extremely difficult. In the process of writing, it is highly important to stay away from a Mary Sue character, as such a character is generally boring, not very well developed, and is a protagonist of little interest. They overcome obstacles with few problems, are the sole driving force behind the story, and with few exceptions cannot be expecte
Busy weekend. The main assembly line is just about done, so you can watch how iGirls are made from scratch. I'm also doing some housekeeping, cleaning up the premium gallery and working on a new banner. Going forward, iGirls will post R-rated content to the premium gallery. I'll be focusing more on single images and quick comics for now so supporters get more of what they want. Eventually, we'll get back to longer comics. I have plans.
Whew, long day. I'm starting to lay out a short comic that introduces the new iGirl facility. (Art 90 percent done.) Leah will be leading a group of VIP investors through the parts that are up and running.
I'm just someone who's interested in all things geeky or intellectually stimulating (yes there is a difference). I tend to prefer the latter, and sometimes I need something to do with my pent up energy. I enjoy talking, discussing, debating, thinking (who would have thought), writing, making fake magic the gathering cards (hehe), and mathematics.
Yes mathematics.

Actually no. The Star Wars set is shoddily balanced outside of set (but is actually pretty balanced so far within set) and the Garrison mechanic doesn't work with the current Magic Comprehensive rules.
But thank you for the compliment.
I'm actually currently working on an artless set that I'm going to submit to MTG Salvation Forums sometime soon once it's gone through playtesting and such.
